Local Kung Fu 2 premiers, to be released in theatres across Northeast on April 19
Guwahati, April 18, 2017: After the immense success of Assam’s first martial arts comedy Local Kung Fu, the makers of the film premiered its sequel Local Kung Fu 2 at Jyoti Chitraban on Tuesday morning. Based on William Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors, the film will be released in theatres across Assam and the Northeast on Wednesday, April 19.
Speaking at the premier of the film, actor-director-producer KennyDeori Basumatary said, “It is a very difficult task to createa sequel, especially when the previous film has already set a very highbenchmark. So instead of trying to extend the previous story, we have prepareda completely new story for Local Kung Fu 2. We hope our audience will love andenjoy this film as much as the previous one.”
Speaking on the storyline, Kenny Deori Basumatary said, “Thefilm is about two pairs of twins who get separated at birth. One pair of twinsstays in Guwahati and the other stays in Tezpur. The pair in Guwahati knowmartial arts, but the pair in Tezpur don’t. After a series of events, the pairfrom Guwahati ends up in Tezpur, and that is when the confusion begins.”
Executive Producer Durlov Baruah took this opportunity tothank everyone who made it possible for them to release the film on thescheduled date. It is worth mentioning that the crowdfunding campaign startedby the Local Kung Fu 2 team, on Wishberry.in, had raised a total sum of Rs.8,86,081 from 478 backers, closing with a successful 111% of the target amount.
Kenny Deori Basumatary and Utkal Hazowary will be seenplaying the key roles in the film. The cast of the film also includes SarmisthaChakravorty, Eepsita Hazarika, Bonny Deori, Tony Deori Basumatary, BibhashSingha, Bibhuti Bhushan Hazarika, Yashraj Jadhav, Montu Deori and Amar SinghDeori. The Associate Producers of the film are Advent Films and MarquishBasumatary, while Durlov Baruah is the Executive Producer. The story has beenwritten and directed by Kenny Basumatary, and has been produced jointly by BPDeori and Kenny Basumatary. The cinematography has been done by Suruj Deka,coloured by Dhruva J. Bordoloi, and the music of the film has been prepared byTony-Derrick-Utkash. The film has 8 songs in various flavours.
Besides Assam, the film will be released in Dimapur,Naharlagun, Itnagar, Shillong and Agartala
