Guwahati Round Table 235 organizes driFTErs– a TSD CAR RALLY
Guwahati;February 10, 2017: Guwahati Round Table 235, under Round Table India, has yet again taken up an initiative to help the Education of underprivileged children of the society. On Friday, the Table announced Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) car rally – driFTErs– to be held at Hotel Ginger on February 19th from 8 am-3pm. The charity fund-raising event is being organized for building the infrastructure of Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan in Dadara, near Hajo.

“driFTErs” will be a fun-filled yet competitive event based on the TSD (Time, Speed, Distance) car rally model, which is one of the most entertaining rallies for motor sport enthusiasts. It is a unique rally concept, which combines the thrill of winning and entertainment to create a great experience that attracts amateurs and professionals alike. With a 1st prize of Rs. 51,000 and total cash prizes worth Rs. 1.35 Lacs, driFTErs Car Rally is grabbing a lot of eyeballs all across the Northeast.
NEMA (North East Motorsports Association) will take care of the technical aspects of the rally. The rally has been approved by FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sports Club of India), a national body which organizes rallies on a national level. The event has been supported by Audi as the title sponsor,associate sponsor -Amrit Cement and powered by Intech.
Speaking on the event, Parveen Goyal, Chairman, Guwahati Round Table 235 said, “TSD Car Rally is about skillful navigation and careful driving. It is a unique rally which combines the fun of motor sports and thrill of winning for amateurs and professionals. driFTErs is an open-to-all fun-filled rally open to only 70 cars on first come first serve basis. We are giving away mega cash prizes to the winners. Also, exclusive cash prizes will be awarded in the category of lady participants. All funds raised through this event will be used to make classrooms at Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Dadara.

It is worth mentioning here that Guwahati Round Table 235, with its present 20 members, adopted the Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan school in Dadara for development
under Round Table India’s flagship “Freedom Through Education” project in February last year. The planned school building, having a total construction area of 10,500 sq. ft., will be constructed in four stages with an expected outlay of Rs. 80 lakhs. The first phase of the said school was inaugurated by Dr. Himanta
Biswa Sarmaon August 7, 2016. The second phase of the project was inaugurated on January8, 2017, by Kamrup (rural) District Magistrate Vinod Seshan. The driFTErscarrally, comprising of a total of 70 cars,will help fund the development of thethird phase of construction of the school.

Guwahati RoundTable 235, a part of Round Table India, is a non-religious, non-politicalorganization. The first Round Table was formed in Norwich, England in1927 andin India; the first Table was formed in 1957. The organization has members(referred to as “Tablers”) aged between 18-40 years and every chapter (referredto as Table) comprises of a maximum of 25 Tablers. Round Table India has nowaround 4,100 Tablers in around 290 Tables located across 105 cities and towns,comprisingof businessmen, entrepreneurs, technocrats and professionals.

Besides theadoption of the Dadara school, the Guwahati Round Table 235 has also renovatedan abandoned classroom at Harijan Prathamik Vidyalaya, Fatasil. The Table,which was inaugurated on March 30, 2013, have, in the past, also organizedcharity events like “Raju, Raja, Ram aur Main” by Sharman Joshi in 2015 and“The Funny Rascals” in 2016 to raise funds for the development of the saidschool.
