Goals Galore as Rajdhar Bora beat Railway Higher, Advance to the Finals

Matchday at the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports – School and College Football saw Semi – Final action at the Nehru Football Stadium. The high scoring match of the day saw Rajdhar Bora HS School take on the Railway Higher Secondary School in the first Semi-Final of the Senior Boys Category. The exciting tie produced 8 goals with Rajdhar Bora coming out on top with a 5 – 3 victory to progress to the finals of the category.

Rajdhar Bora got their first goal through a penalty which was converted by Dipan Das in the 2nd minute. Rakesh Das doubled the advantage in the 39th minute before Dhanjit Das scoring in the 45th minute to give his team a 3 – 0 lead going into halftime. The second half saw Railway trying to get back in the game and they almost gave a scare to Rajdhar Bora when Railway scored 2 goals in two minutes in the 56th through Banamali and in the 58th through Chintu Das. Rajdhar Bora shook off the challenge from Railway Higher and finished the match strongly with Rakesh Das adding his second in the 81st minute followed by Dhanjit Das in the 86th minute to give Rajdhar a 5 – 2 lead before Chintu Das got another for Railway Higher in the 87th minute to end the match at 5 – 3 in favour of Rajdhar Bora HS School.

The victory takes Rajdhar Bora HS School into the City Finals where they will meet Dispur Academy who overcame a stern challenge from Montfort School winning their Semi-Final 4 – 3 on penalties after the match had ended 1 – 1 at full time.
