Arya Vidyapeeth College spearheads Guwahati challenge in RFYS National Championship

Guwahati, December 29, 2016 Arya Vidyapeeth College along with three other teams from Dakshin Guwahati Jr College, Rajdhar Bora High School and Sundarbari High School will spearhead the Guwahati challenge in the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports National Football Championship starting from 30th December 2016 to 7th January 2017 in Mumbai.

All four teams have qualified to the RFYS Nationals winning their respective category City Leg finals held earlier this month in Guwahati.

Arya Vidyapeeth College placed in Group A of the College Boys category start their campaign for the National final competition against Nirmala College-Kochi on 30th December at Fr. Agnel Ground, Navi Mumbai. On 31st Dec, the Arya Boys will take on Indira College of Commerce-Pune at same ground and later against Rosary Commerce and Arts College-Goa on 2nd January at Cooperage Ground as their last league match in Group A.

In the Senior Boys category, Rajdhar Bora High School  will be competing against seven teams from seven cities to cement a place in the National finals, while the Senior Girls category will be represented by Dakshin Guwahati Jr College. Sundarbari High School-Guwahati will be competing in the Junior Boys category against JN Petit School-Pune in the first match on 31st December 2016.

With a total prize money of Rs 16 Lac, the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports National Championship in Mumbai will see a conglomeration of the best of 32 teams in four categories and from eight cities compete for the top honours.

All the matches will have a four-camera set up to live streamed on RFYSwebsite www.rfyouthsports.com.Top two teams in each group will qualify the semi-finals to be played atCooperage Ground on 4th & 5th January 2017,with finals scheduled on Saturday, 7th January 2017.

Launched this July in partnership with AIFF and ISL Clubs, the RelianceFoundation Youth Sports has earned appreciation from the participating schooland college institutes for the organisational skills in conducting the competitionin a conducive environment for the participants to compete in a professionalset up.

In the last four months, the competition has witnessed over 25,000players participation with 2700 football matches played among 2500 teams from1800 educational institutes, reaching to over 2 million students throughfootball in this duration.
