Parents and faculty discuss students

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAGUWAHATI ? Keeping up with a five year old tradition at the fledgling Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU), parents of students had opportunity to meet with the faculty to assess the performance of their wards. One hundred and ten parents, joined their wards especially the freshers for the four hour session, on Saturday 28th September.

The meet started off with registrations and a common session at the atrium where? Principal of Don Bosco College of Engineering & Technology Prof. Manoranjan Kalita welcomed all.

?By your response to our invitation, you have expressed your love and responsibility towards your wards;? said Prof Kalita stating that ?parents too are members of the ADBU family.?

Besides the inaugural and introductory session at the atrium, the parent-faculty interaction had two other moments.

The first session was held in the respective faculty rooms with Heads of Departments and Mentors (faculty members assigned to students in the mentor program) in the presence of the student.

The second moment was in the ADBU Conference Hall where parents could express their concerns to the Management and Administration.

The principal encouraged parents to collect the contact phone number of the Mentor as well as the password to access detailed information of the performance of their ward from the university website.

Addressing the parents, the Vice Chancellor of ADBU Dr Stephen Mavely said, ?we want the university to be a place of excellence to meet the aspirations of parents and students.?

He also invited the parents to be part of the ?student ambassadors? program and to be open and frank in the inter-active sessions.?

While Sr Shiji James had a brief PowerPoint presentation on College activities held this semester, Mr Shahnawaj Hussain reported on Training & Placement scenario.

After the open discussion session chaired by ADBU Controller of Examinations together with other ADBU officials, the session ended with lunch for all.
