Guwahati Round Table 235 completes construction of phase 1 of Dadara school

Guwahati Round Table 235, under Round Table India, has been on a mission to provide best school infrastructure for the underprivileged children of the society. Guwahati Round Table 235 aspires to build the infrastructure of Shankardev Shishu Niketan in Dadara, near Hajo, and the phase 1 of the school infrastructure, comprising 3 classrooms, is now ready for inauguration on Sunday. The inauguration will be done by Chief Guest Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of Finance, Education & Health, Govt. of Assam in presence of Guest of Honour Dr. Nirmal Kumar Choudhury, Ex-Vice Chancellor, Gauhati University. ?The development of the Phase 1 of the school infrastructure was completed recently after the foundation stone was laid on February 7, 2016. The school, to be developed in 4 phases, will house 14 classrooms after the completion of the overall project by the end of 2017,? said Rajat Sureka, Chairman of Guwahati Round Table 235. ?The second phase of the project will commence immediately after the inauguration on Sunday. The project is moving as desired and we are happy that the citizens are helping us with the cause,? said Parveen Goyal, Vice Chairman at Guwahati Round Table,addressing a press conference organized at the Guwahati Press Club on Thursday. Goyal added that among other initiatives of the Table, a fund-raising Hinglish Comedy Show ? The Funny Rascals ? was organized by the Table on May 8 to help finance the project. Guwahati Round Table 235, with its present 20 members, adopted the school in Dadara under Round Table India?s flagship ?Freedom Through Education? project. The Table aims to develop around 10,500 sq. ft. of the said school. Tablers, Avishek Kejriwal, Prakash Gupta, Manish Singhal, Mukesh Chokhani and Basant Maheshwari were present on the occasion. Under its flagship project ?Freedom through Education?, Round Table India has built around 5377 classrooms with a total outlay of Rs 179 crore over the last 15 years impacting the Education of ~6 million underprivileged children. Guwahati Round Table 235, a part of Round Table India, is a non-religious, non-political organization. The first Round Table was formed in Norwich, England in 1927 and in India; the first Table was formed in 1957. The organization has members (referred to as ?Tablers?) aged between 18-40 years and every chapter (referred to as Table) comprises of a maximum of 25 Tablers. Round Table India has now around 4,200 Tablers in around 280 Tables located across 80 cities and towns, comprising of businessmen, entrepreneurs, technocrats and professionals. In Guwahati, there are 4 Tables whereas, there?s a solitary Table each in Shillong, Tinsukia and Jorhat. More Tables are coming up in Dibrugarh, Tezpur and other places. Besides the adoption of the Dadara school, the Guwahati Round Table 235 has also?renovated an abandoned classroom at Harijan Prathamik Vidyalaya, Fatasil. The Table, which was inaugurated on March 30, 2013, also?organized a super specialty free health check up camp in association with Medanta Medi-City, Gurgaon and Downtown Hospital, Guwahati where 892 people participated. The Table also?organized a free surgery & mega heath check up camp at Mirza where 1,046 people participated.
