Awareness camps on availability of different welfare and Social Security Schemes
Legal Cell for Human Rights (LCHR) in collaboration with Assam State Legal Services Authority (ASLSA) organised five awareness camps on availability of different welfare and Social Security Schemes in different places around Guwahati.? 181 people gained knowledge on their rights and available provisions. Government of India has implemented several Social Security Schemes with an aim to reach out and support its citizenry.? Social Security Schemes are imposed and controlled by Government units for the purpose of providing social benefits to members of the community as a whole or of particular sections of the community.? These provisions are for improvement in living conditions of economically weaker sections, educational and economic upliftment of SC/ST/OBC/Minorities, empowerment of women, welfare and educational upliftment of the children, financial and other supports like health care, insurances, shelter, food etc to various categories of the persons i.e. senior citizens, women in distress, shelter-less persons, street children, persons with disabilities, construction workers, drug addicts, beggars who need care and special attention. Our efforts towards generating awareness among communities on availability of different welfare and Social Security Schemes will help to bring about an end to their struggles and increase their demand to access to the resources and get justice for their livelihood as citizens of India.
